Virtual Open House reaches out to students across the globe

La Universidad de Alberta lanza una nueva iniciativa en línea para conectar estudiantes de todo el mundo:

Next Tuesday (December 3), prospective students from all over the world will log in to attend the first-ever UAlberta International Online Open House, a virtual space where prospective international students can connect with faculty advisors, housing representatives, international recruiters, and current students through live web presentations with Q&A, text chats, videos, and more

“We hear from many prospective students that they find it a challenge to ‘picture themselves’ at UAlberta because they have never been to Canada,” says Britta Baron, Vice-Provost and Associate Vice-President (International) at the University of Alberta. “Virtual recruitment activities are a great way to show aspects of the university that don’t always come through in traditional text and photos, such as an overall sense of the environment and community.”

“We’ll be able to reach a diverse pool of prospective students and provide a personalized experience that will leave them feeling as though they have truly connected with UAlberta,” Baron says. “Most international students are not able to visit UAlberta in person before applying, so this is our chance to bring UAlberta to them—virtually.”

The International Online Open House will take place on Tuesday, December 3, 2013 in two sessions, 7:00–10:30AM and 4:00–8:00 PM (Mountain time), in order to reach students in different time zones.

Registration for students is free.
